Beaches Turks and Caicos: An In-Depth Review

I was lucky enough to get to spend 3 nights (4 full days) at Beaches Turks and Caicos in October 2019. This resort had been on my bucket list after so many clients and friends enjoying it but I always think you really need to see it for yourself before you can truly understand! Turks and Caicos, How do I Love Thee… Let me Count the Ways…

THE PROPERTY:

Beaches Turks and Caicos is a HUGE resort. I will be the first to admit that when I walked onto the property for the first time, I felt overwhelmed. I had no idea where I was going, how I was going to get there, or what I was going to find! I decided that first day that I was just going to “get lost.” I took some time to walk the property and explore and really get a feel for the layout of the property. The really nice thing about the property is that it’s laid out in 4 sections so it’s actually easier to navigate than you think. By the second day, I knew where I was going and how to get there and by the last day, I could even take the quickest route to get there. As I said, the property is laid out in 4 sections:
- KEY WEST: This is the section all the way to the left in the photo. I call this the “quiet” section or the more adult section. There are no big crazy pools located in this section; however, the adults-only pool is in this section. The largest rooms (3 and 4 bedroom villas) are in this section and they are absolutely stunning. You can view room tours of the rooms I saw in the Key West Section by clicking on the links:
Key West One Bedroom Villa
Key West Two Bedroom Villa
Key West Three Bedroom Villa
- ITALIAN VILLAGE: This is the section next to the Key West Section. The Italian Village is the “hopping, busy” area of the resort. There is a very large pool in the center where most of the daily activities take place. There is also several food and restaurant options. If you want to be in the center of the action. This is definitely where you want to stay. A quick note on that: My room was overlooking the pool in the Italian Village. During the daytime, it was quite loud outside with the kids splashing around the pool; however, the second my balcony door was closed, you couldn’t hear anything! That is always a concern for me since sometimes I like to take naps!

- FRENCH VILLAGE: The French Village is tucked away behind the Italian Village. You walk through the Pirate’s Cove Waterpark to get to the French Village so it definitely is still a very central location to everything. The French Village is known for its sophisticated style. It also has one large pool and is home to many restaurants and even the two food trucks on property. We unfortunately did not get to tour any of the rooms here so maybe next time!
- CARIBBEAN VILLAGE: The Caribbean Village has actually been sectioned off and the have Caribbean Village rooms and Seaside Villas. These rooms are on the right side of the photo above. I have to say that I think that the Seaside Villas are some of my favorite rooms at the whole resort! I love their location and their ambiance! We didn’t get to tour the Caribbean Village rooms but check out the Seaside Village rooms below

THE FOOD:

There are 24 Food Options at Beaches Turks and Caicos - from adults only affair to a macaroni and cheese food truck! You are guaranteed to find something that you LOVE. If you prefer to drink your calories, there are also 15 bars on property! Because I was there such a short period of time and we had some pre-arranged meals, I didn’t get to try nearly the amount of food I would have liked to try so my personal favorite of the places we tried was Kimonos - the hibachi place! The steak and chicken there was fabulous and the entertainment was even better! Check out my video of our trip to Kimonos and if you go, make sure you request Cookie! We LOVED him! The restaurants available at Beaches Turks and Caicos are:

THE BEACH

It is no secret that Grace Bay on Turks and Caicos is one of the best beaches in the world. The sand is soft and smooth. The water is the most stunning shade of turquoise. When you’re inside of it, is clear and you can see to the bottom. It really is phenomenal. Beaches has PLENTY of chairs on the huge stretch of beach. For those of you who burn like lobsters (like me!) there are plenty of shaded areas under large umbrellas and also pull-up cabana type umbrellas (I was a big fan of these!). A warning: the water is a lot saltier than you would think with it being so clear (I swallowed a nice big gulp of it by accident and it was not my finest moment!)

Water Sports: There are a variety of watersports available and included with your stay at Beaches Turks and Caicos including: Kayaks, Windsurfing, Snorkeling, Aqua Trikes, Hobie Cats, Paddleboards, and Underwater Vision boat. In addition, Scuba Diving is offered daily for certified divers. For those who wish to experience scuba diving for the first time, PADI Discover Scuba course is offered for a fee. Snuba and catamaran rides are also available for an additional fee.

THE POOLS AND PIRATE’S ISLAND WATERPARK:

There are 9 pools on property at Beaches Turks and Caicos, the most lively being the Italian Village Pool all the way down to the adults-only pool in the Key West Section. There is also the Pirate’s Island Waterpark featuring nine slides, lazy river, surf simulator, water cannons, cranks and spray features. I had the opportunity to go down two of the larger slides (one plunge and one tube) and I thought I’d get this great video to show you of the trip down and completely failed - It was intense!! My younger daughter would not have liked either of the slides that I did because at the end I plunged into the water so my advice is to make sure to test drive the slide that your child is thinking of doing first so there are no surprises! I was a big fan of the Lazy River, especially towards the end of the day when the Waterpark was empty. The sunrise over the Waterpark area was absolutely gorgeous and it was such a relaxing way to end the day. There is truly something for all ages between the pools and waterpark!

FOR THE KIDS

Beaches Resorts really cater to kids of ALL ages. from the Caribbean Adventures with Sesame Street to the Xbox Play Lounge, there is something for every age. Here are a few highlights:

  • Caribbean Adventures with Sesame Street: Every single day you have the opportunity to meet your favorite Sesame Street friends and participate in fun activities with them like: Puppet Building with Bert and Ernie, Everyday Hero’s Club with Super Grover, Oscar’s Trash to Treasure, Letter of the Day with Abby, Elmocize, Abby’s Birthday Party, Storytime with Elmo, Abby and Elmo’s Surprise Tea Time, Baking with Cookie Monster, Amazing art with Julia, Rubber Duckie Hunt with Ernie, and Discover with Big Bird. When my oldest was little she was obsessed with Sesame Street and I can’t even describe the joy that she got from all the activities we did at Beaches with her “friends

  • Xbox Play Lounge

  • Camp Sesame: spacious air-conditioned building with Beaches’ nannies and counselors to cater to children from ages 0-11, 12-24 months, and 3-4 years. Camp Sesame is equipped with cribs, swings, and rockers. Children’s Swimming pool with canopy, separate play area, kids playground, arts & crafts and more. Two Locations: Caribbean Village and Key West Village

  • Kids Camp: separated by ages: Navigators (5-7), Adventurers (8-10), Tweens (11-14), Teens (15-17). These programs meet on Pirate’s Island and take place throughout the resort. Examples of activities (for Navigators): Island Pinata Party and Kids Mini Disco, Beach Olympics, Family Tie-Dye Party, Shaving Cream Fun, Beach Science Experiment and Beach Games, Mask Making and Face Painting Parade, and SO MUCH MORE.

  • Sesame Street Parade: Best watched from the lobby area of the Italian Village but there are plenty other spots along the route that would work. This parade is fantastic and I heard that you can follow the parade and take pictures with the characters at the end. We unfortunately had to rush off to dinner. See my video of the parade here.

THE BOTTOM LINE

  • I was really impressed with Beaches Turks and Caicos. I really felt that there was truly something for everyone. Although they certainly cater to families, you could go as a single adult or a couple and be just as happy. I was there with fellow travel agents and could totally see how a Girl’s Weekend there would be incredible (ask me about their BFF weekend!)

  • I really like to speak with people at the resort while I am there and see how their experience is and I didn’t speak to anyone who was unhappy - from a couple on their babymoon to a family who comes back year after year. Every single one had a great experience.

  • The staff there is the friendliest. Every single place I went, when I would pass a staff member (from the housekeeping to garden staff to pool staff), they would greet me and ask how I was doing.

  • It is really clean! I was watching as they were cleaning areas that I feel like most places don’t even think to clean and I felt that was just taking things one step further.

  • There is NO TIPPING at Beaches or Sandals Resorts. This is HUGE to me. I like when I go somewhere to put my wallet away and not have to think about spending more money. It truly is all-inclusive.

  • Along that line, your transfers to and from the airport are included. This is a great value at Turks and Caicos (I can tell you that I personally paid for a taxi from the resort I stayed at afterwards to the airport and it was $43 just for me!).

You have to get there and experience it for yourself! And at World of Wonder Travel, we would LOVE to help you plan your next vacation! Contact us at breanne@wowtravelagency.com or using the “Contact Us” form above!
